How they're picked
The data picks them, not a vote. Every D2 player's matches are scored on her kills (worth more when she hits well), digs, assists, aces and blocks. Each match is weighted by how good the opponent was going in, by CORA's Strength rating, with extra credit for wins and five-set matches. Her three best matches count in full, so a seven-match week doesn't win on volume alone. The Team of the Week had the best wins: each win counts by how good the opponent was going in (a top-10 win counts most, a win over a team outside the top 100 almost nothing), and a loss counts against, more so to a weaker team. To spread the honors around, someone who has already won this season wins again only with a clearly better week than the best first-time winner. Picks are made after Sunday's matches and don't change afterward.
